A little help from the kids...

Last week I had the kids help with a school project I had for my Graduate class.  They got to help create a digital story and it was a great review of rules and why we have them.  Here is the story we created!  I love hearing their voices.

Mannequin Challenge

Yesterday at recess we decided we would join the fun and do a Mannequin Challenge!  The kids were so still!  And they loved it!  Just a little added excitement.  There are 2 video clips you should be able to view by clicking the links below!

Decomposing Numbers

Look at these little kiddos working away!

We were breaking apart numbers, or decomposing them.  But the best part of this picture is what you can't hear.

"I love Math!"

"Math is fun!"

"School is fun!"

This is music to my ears!  This kiddos make me smile and laugh every single day!

Turkey? I don't see a turkey!

Love all the turkey creations that were sent in!  They look great displayed in our window!

Turkey Trouble

This week we are reading Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano.  After making predictions yesterday, today we practiced our retelling skills with our picture cards.  Then to add a little more excitement, we made turkey headbands to glue them on!  Check them out when your child gets home and have them practice their retelling skills.  Here is a picture of our class!  (They were saying "Turkey Trouble."  I must have caught some of them mid-phrase!)

Veterans' Day!

There is no school today, but here are some pictures from last week!  We were prepping for Veterans' Day by creating some art to display in the entry!

Our program will be on Thursday, Nov. 10th at 9:00 at the Annex gym.  Everyone is invited to attend.  This year our elementary students will be joined by the middle school and high school choir and band students.

Flexible Seating

Were you curious about our classroom seating when you came for Backpack Night in August?  Did you wonder where all the chairs were hiding?  Did you think I was crazy?  Here is a peak at our math lesson the other day.  Students were able to choose a spot to work where they could see the board and do their best work.  I love that the seating is, well, flexible!  Often we work close together, but we are fortunate to have the space to spread out with different seating options.  Students are engaged, and they know they can always be moved if they need to make a better choice.  Sometimes they need reminders about how to make seating choices that will work best for them.  That is the great thing about kindergarten....we are always learning!

Halloween Party

Here are some pictures from our Halloween Party!  Special thank you to everyone that helped plan it or brought in supplies.  The kids enjoyed themselves and it went to smoothly!

Waiting for the Homecoming parade to start!

We started writing in our little books.

Hard to believe our first quarter of Kindergarten is almost over!  We are working hard and I can't wait to see what we accomplish by the end of the year!
