Happy 100th Day of School!

Today we are celebrating our 100th Day of Kindergarten!  The kids could dress up like they were 100 years old and this morning we made crowns.  Check out our pictures below.  And if you scroll down the blog, you will find us on the first day school....they looked so young back then!  Think of how much we have learned since then!

Art

Every Thursday the kids get to show their creative side in Art.  Today they did a guided drawing of themselves all dressed for the show.  Below are their masterpieces.  Can you find your child?

Writers Workshop

This week we started Writer's Workshop!  I love this time because it is really where we can see so much growth.  Students enter Kindergarten with a wide range of skills and knowledge.  It is exciting to see it all come together and watch them write sentences.  In the beginning, they can get discouraged because they think they can't really write or they don't know how to spell; however, we just TRY OUR BEST! We learn to write the sounds we hear.  On Day 1 we learned that writing is just telling on paper.  We used this chart to help us remember our steps.

Here are some pictures from our first day...

I can't wait to share their writing with you.  When we our down with our first writing unit, we will "publish" or writing and it will go home for you to enjoy!
